Tuition

I run beginner and advanced courses at Knowstone Hall on Friday mornings.

Each course runs for 12 weeks and is bookable in advance.

Beginner Course

This course takes you through the main principals and techniques to create accomplished paintings.

Week 1 starts with exploring and expression of colour. From there we move to learning the techniques to create our first painting.

Class time is split between demonstration, individual tuition and practice, building up to a finished picture by week 3.

Week 4 is the start of the next piece, exploring a different subject matter and techniques. Week 7 begins the third piece of the course and Week 10 the final piece.

This course is taught in watercolour. A pack containing artist quality materials for the course is available for purchase when you book your place.

If you have your own materials you are welcome to bring them along, and if you work in another media and want to attend the beginners course you are also welcome.

Advanced Course

This course is designed to help you progress your painting style and abilities.

We work with different concepts and ideas to take you out of your comfort zone and challenge your mind to the many possibilities in painting.

Whatever medium and style you work in, this class will help you develop yourself as an artist.

Week 1 starts with a master class based on colour. Weeks 2 and 3 continue exploring this and incorporating it into your work, creating inspired works of art.

Week 4 is the second master class and this offers a different challenge to inspire you.

The class format gives you the freedom to choose your own subject or work with the suggested one. Weeks 7 and 10 are the further master classes of the course.

Working at your own rate you can work on as many or as few pieces as you wish throughout the course.
