Tuition

I run courses at Knowstone Hall , Filleigh Hall and Chevithorne Hall. Each course runs for 6 weeks and is bookable in advance. I also supply a large range of art materials catering for beginner through to professional.

Beginner Course

This is suitable for complete beginners and those with little knowledge of techniques or experience in painting.

The course takes you through the main principals and techniques to create accomplished paintings.

Topics covered include exploring and expression of colour, watercolour techniques, painting styles, and drawing.

Class time is split between demonstration, individual tuition and practice, giving students time to produce finished pieces.

This course is taught in watercolour.

A pack containing artist quality materials for the course is available for purchase when you book your place.

If you have your own materials you are welcome to bring them along, and if you work in another media and want to attend the beginners course you are also welcome.

Experienced Course

This course is aimed at people who already have a working knowledge of techniques and the medium they work in, but wish to further their abilities.

Topics include exploring the different ways we can use colour to enhance our paintings, techniques to create depth and mood, different styles of painting, composition.;

Class time is split between demonstration, individual tuition and practice, giving students time to produce finished pieces.

This course is taught in watercolour and acrylic.

Advanced Course

This is the course for those who are happy with their technical abilities and control of their chosen medium but want to further their development as an artist.

This course is designed to help you progress your painting style and abilities.

We work with different concepts and ideas to take you out of your comfort zone and challenge your mind to the many possibilities in painting.

Whatever medium and style you work in, this class will help you develop yourself as an artist.

We focus on exploring and incorporating new concepts into your work, allowing you to create inspired works of art.

The class format gives you the freedom to choose your own subject or work with the suggested one. Working at your own rate you can work on as many or as few pieces as you wish throughout the course.
